About Totoket Historical Society

The Totoket Historical Society, a private non-profit corporation, was organized in 1958 for the purpose of helping to preserve the traditions, character, and history of the Northford and North Branford communities.

Through fundraising events and donations, our goal is to preserve the rich history and culture of these small New England towns.

We maintain several historic buildings, including the Little Red School House (1805) in Northford and the Reynolds-Beers House (1786) in North Branford.

We also maintain the Gordon S. Miller Barn Museum (2002) which has 18th, 19th and early 20th century farm implements and the Little White Gas Station which dates back to the 1920s and was the first gas station in North Branford.

Our activities include researching and writing about local history, educational programs and exhibits, photography projects, collecting and maintaining historic artifacts and material, and various special projects.

We host several community events throughout the year and invite you to help support our efforts of preservation and education of our local history.
